Roid Rage

Well it seems Max has gotten RSV. He started with a nasty cough on Thursday, then added in an obnoxiously runny nose yesterday, but all in all he acted well. He was just a little extra clingy. Last night he was miserable, couldn't sleep, and clearly did not know what he wanted - he was just beside himself. We gave him tylenol and motrin, had his crib propped up, and the humidifier blasting. He got lots of cuddles and we set up the laptop next to his crib so he could watch Baby Einstein. He started wheezing and retracting. Matt and I thought we were going to have to bring him to the ED. We broke out his inhaler to see if that would help at all. We all ended up getting about 3 hours of sleep last night, and when Max woke up he was still a little wheezy and winded. We brought him to the pediatrician's first thing. His ears looked good and his lower lungs sounded ok, but his oxygen levels were a little low and he was still wheezy. So we are starting steroids again, just to be sure... we don't need a repeat of Max's birthday! Max screamed and fought through the whole exam - totally not like him... then made the pediatrician laugh when at the end: a sweaty, snotty, blotchy (from crying) Max, cuddled up to his mommy, waved 'bye-bye' and said 'Tenk-oo.'
