Today we ventured out on our own. After one trip on the BTS (skytrain) we are feeling very comfortable with this method of travel. We easily navigate to station Mo Chit, but are nervous that once we arrive we will not be able to find the Chatuchak Market. This market, also known as "JJ Market" to locals, is the biggest market in Asia. You can buy used vintage sneakers, exotic animals, designer knock offs, kitchen sinks, whatever your heart desires. We had no trouble locating it. I knew it was going to be huge, but to call it huge and to call it packed would both be gross understatements. It was very intimidating for us to shop. People were pushing and grabbing and carrying ginormous bags around with their treasures. We first purchased some sunglasses out of necessity, then a few souvenirs, but not much else. We had a delicious lunch. Again, don't ask what I ate, but trust me, I avoided the intestines and liver in the soup. What did we spend the most money on? Two massages... Actually it would be four massages, two massages each. At first we got a $5 each, 30 minute foot massage. Then before leaving we returned (which finding the same massage stall was alone a feat!) for round two. We decided to get the 60 minute foot reflexology and shoulder massage for $8.33 per person.
I cannot get enough of this soup!
So many people!
Prawns
Cupcakes
We came back to the hotel exhausted and decided to lie down for a little nap. The little nap ended up being much longer than we anticipated and we woke up after 10 pm (AGAIN!). We were running low on Thai cash, so we headed up to a local restaurant and ordered some Thai food. We were then told that the kitchen for Thai food was closed, and we'd have to order Western food. FY
I - Western food is more than triple the price of Thai food. We split a cheese pizza that would be super tasty if it wasn't for the little green balls all over it. I thought those balls were maybe some basil creation, but no, they were some sort of fish creation! We pulled them off and ate the pizza before heading back home to sleep!
