Thai Trip Report: Day #8

Oh today. Today was the day I'd been dreading. We had another excursion planned for today. We have to be at a hotel on the other side of town at 8:30, and given the traffic issue at that time we will need to rely on the skytrain and walking. I was nervous about not being able to find the place (I am still scarred from the failed attempt at a dinner cruise), but this was actually a good thing, because then I wasn't dwelling on what was going to happen if we made our pick up time! Well, we found it. And we had time to grab a drink before the bus arrived. We got into the bus - so much nicer than all of the buses we've been in yet. It was new, leather, and not jam packed with people. After an hour and half ride, we arrive.

They sit us down to fill out some paperwork. Basically sign your life away. We pay. Then we are taken to the Khao Kheow open zoo to spend some time before it is our turn. This place was amazing! I wish we could have spent the whole day here. I wish we could have brought the kids. Animals running all over the place. Matt and I fed rhinos, giraffes, monkeys, and elephants. We touched the animals. It was spectacular.

Then it was time.  They got us all geared up and we had a 15 minute drive, then a 15 minute hike up a mountain.  They lead us onto a platform and now it was time... to go ziplining.  Ahhh!  Fortunately there was another girl who went who was just as scared as me and screamed, pleaded, and cried before being pushed off the platform.  We were so high, there were times I couldn't even see the ground.  There were 16 ziplines, one was 300 meters long.  We also abseiled twice (aka dropped down the tree!).  It did get easier each time, but I was still shaking long after we set foot on solid ground!  Then we were served a very yummy lunch on a lake before being brought home.  Initially I thought this excursion was quite pricey ($172/couple), but I would say we definitely got our money's worth!
Tree Top Thailand... No joke!
Only a little petrified!
We survived!
